Philippines Reports Over 650 New COVID-19 Cases; Total Surpasses 30,000

The number of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases in the Philippines surpassed 30,000 on Sunday after the Department of Health reported 653 new infections.

Total recoveries increased to 7,893 with an additional 243 patients recovering from the illness, while the death toll rose to 1,169 with 19 new fatalities.

Among the new cases, 415 were 'fresh' or newly validated and 238 were reported late. Of these, 219 fresh cases were in Metro Manila, 89 were from Region VII, and the remaining 107 were distributed across other areas.

Similarly, among the late cases, 32 were from Metro Manila, 177 were from Region VII, and 29 came from various regions nationwide.
