Philippines leads SE Asia in COVID-19 testing capacity

The Philippines has surpassed its Southeast Asian neighbors in terms of COVID-19 testing capacity.

As of August 4, the country has conducted over 1.6 million tests with an average of nearly 29,000 daily tests in the past week.

This is significantly higher than Indonesia's approximately 14,300 daily tests and places the Philippines ahead of other Asian nations like Japan (7,558), South Korea (3,979), Malaysia (3,247), and Singapore (3,201) based on July data.

The DOH reports that the Philippines has tested 1.5% of its population, which is notably higher than Indonesia's 0.34%.
