Philippines Coronavirus Cases Surpass 140K

The number of coronavirus cases in the Philippines has been increasing rapidly, reaching a total of 143,749 on August 12th, with 4,444 new cases reported that day.

Of these new cases, 57% originated from Metro Manila, indicating the region's continued struggle to contain the virus spread.

The Philippines has also seen an increase in recoveries and deaths; there were 636 new recoveries and 93 new fatalities on August 12th.

As of August 11th, the total number of cases had risen to 139,538 with 2,987 new infections reported that day. The majority of these new cases were from Metro Manila (NCR) and nearby provinces like Cavite and Laguna.

The death toll has been rising as well; by August 12th it reached 2,404 deaths, while recoveries have climbed to 68,997.

On August 9th, the total number of cases was near 130K with 3,109 new infections reported that day. Recoveries increased by 654 and there were 61 new fatalities.
