PCCI urges rapid testing to modify ECQ

On Tuesday, Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) president emeritus George Barcelon urged the government to implement rapid mass testing for COVID-19 to modify the enhanced community quarantine.

Barcelon emphasized that rapid testing would help identify communities with clusters of infection, allowing uninfected areas to gradually resume economic activities like manufacturing.

He noted that a complete lockdown is challenging for daily-wage earners despite government financial assistance.

The PCCI also welcomed the PHP51-billion wage subsidy for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSME) workers.
