PBA admits missed call in Game 2 of TNT vs Rain or Shine

The Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) acknowledged missing a call during Game 2 of the semifinals between TNT and Rain or Shine, which took place on Friday, June 27.

Gian Mamuyac from Rain or Shine was called for a foul as he defended Calvin Oftana while shooting with seven seconds left in regulation, leading to three free throws that tied the score and forced overtime. However, media videos showed that Oftana was beyond the four-point line when fouled.

PBA Deputy Commissioner Eric Castro stated on Saturday that based on their review, Oftana's shot was a three-pointer; however, video footage from the press clearly indicated it should have been a four-point attempt.

The league expressed regret over this oversight and acknowledged blind spots in camera angles as the cause of the missed call, emphasizing their commitment to improving review systems for fairness and accuracy moving forward.

TNT won the game 113-105 in overtime, taking a 2-0 lead in the series against Rain or Shine.
