Paolo Duterte refuses sides in House speakership dispute

Deputy Speaker Paolo Duterte refused to take sides in the ongoing House speakership dispute between Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano and Marinduque Rep. Lord Allan Velasco.

Duterte acknowledged that Velasco has a valid claim based on a term-sharing agreement, but also noted that Cayetano still enjoys support from many lawmakers.

He expressed sadness over the division in the House and emphasized the importance of unity to fulfill their mandate as representatives.
