Cayetano resigns as House Speaker

Taguig-Pateros Representative Alan Peter Cayetano resigned as Speaker of the House of Representatives on Tuesday.

Cayetano tendered his irrevocable resignation, citing an 'untenable political situation' and President Duterte's call to focus on passing the 2021 budget.

In a Facebook post, Cayetano said he leaves with a clear conscience and thanked colleagues for their support during his term.

Marinduque Representative Lord Allan Velasco was elected as the new Speaker following Cayetano’s resignation.
