Defensor to object if Cayetano resigns as Speaker

Anak-Kalusugan party-list Representative Mike Defensor plans to object again if Taguig Rep. Alan Peter Cayetano resigns as House Speaker on October 14.

Defensor argues that the current situation and track record support keeping Cayetano in leadership.

On Wednesday, Cayetano announced his intention to step down from the position of Speaker in favor of Marinduque Representative Lord Allan Velasco, following a term-sharing agreement since July 2019.

However, many congressmen rejected Cayetano's resignation plan after Defensor proposed a motion to oppose it, which was supported by 184 representatives.
