ITCZ, shear line, NE monsoon affect PH weather

The Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ), shear line, and northeast monsoon continue to affect various parts of the Philippines on Thursday, January 2, according to PAGASA.

Visayas, Mindanao, Palawan, Romblon, Catanduanes, Albay, Sorsogon, and Masbate will experience cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the ITCZ.

The shear line impacts most of Bicol Region, Quezon, Marinduque, Aurora, Isabela, Quirino, and Cagayan, bringing cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms.

Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will have partly cloudy skies with isolated rain showers due to the shear line, while the northeast monsoon affects Cordillera Administrative Region, rest of Cagayan Valley, Ilocos Norte, and parts of the Ilocos Region, causing cloudy skies with rains.

PAGASA warns of potential flash floods or landslides in areas experiencing moderate to heavy rainfall and severe thunderstorms.
