PAGASA warns of widespread rain due to four weather systems on New Year's Day

Four weather systems - including the northeast monsoon and shear line - will bring widespread rain and cloudy skies across the Philippines on New Year's Day, according to PAGASA.

Northern Luzon will experience cloudy skies with a high chance of rain due to the northeast monsoon, while the shearline is forecasted to cause isolated thunderstorms in Metro Manila, Calabarzon, Isabela, Quirino, Aurora, Bulacan, and the rest of Mimaropa, and Bicol Region.

Mindanao, Eastern and Central Visayas, Negros Island Region, parts of southern Luzon, Palawan, Romblon, Catanduanes, Albay, Sorsogon, and Masbate will see cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ).

Temperatures are expected to remain low in major cities such as Laoag, Tuguegarao, Baguio City, Metro Manila, Legazpi City, Puerto Princesa City, Tagaytay City, Tacloban City, Cebu City, Iloilo City, Zamboanga City, and Davao City.

PAGASA issued a heavy rainfall outlook for the next three days with no tropical cyclone formation expected as the Philippines enters 2025.
