Philippines to see cloudy skies, scattered rains due to multiple weather systems

Various parts of the Philippines will continue to experience cloudy skies and scattered rains due to several weather systems on New Year's Day.

Metro Manila, CALABARZON, Cagayan, Isabela, Quirino, Apayao, Aurora, Bulacan, Marinduque, Oriental Mindoro, Camarines Norte, and Camarines Sur will experience cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms due to the shear line.

Visayas, Caraga region, Davao region, Palawan, Romblon, Catanduanes, Albay, Sorsogon, Masbate, and Metro Manila will have cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ).

Cloudy skies with rain showers are expected in Batanes due to the northeast monsoon or amihan, while Ilocos Region, the rest of Cordillera Administrative Region except Apayao, and Nueva Vizcaya will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains also due to amihan.

PAGASA warns that possible flash floods or landslides might occur in areas near mountains and those facing the Pacific Ocean, especially in Eastern Visayas, Caraga region, Bicol, and other affected areas over the next 48 hours.
