Easterlies bring humid weather, rain showers in S Luzon, Visayas, Mindanao, MM

The easterlies are expected to bring humid conditions, cloudy skies, and scattered rain showers over parts of Southern Luzon, Visayas, Mindanao, and Metro Manila on Thursday, the country's Independence Day.

PAGASA forecasts scattered rain showers and thunderstorms in Bicol Region, Eastern Visitas, Caraga, Davao Oriental, Davao Occidental, South Cotabato, Sarangani, Sultan Kudarat, and Zamboanga Sibugay due to the easterlies, with moderate to heavy rains causing flash floods and landslides.

Localized thunderstorms may cause isolated rain showers over Metro Manila and other parts of the country, posing risks for flash floods or landslides during severe weather events.

Light to moderate winds and slight to moderate coastal waters are forecasted across the Philippines.

Sunrise on Thursday is expected at 5:27 a.m., with PAGASA advising precautions against heat-related illnesses such as heat cramps, exhaustion, and stroke.

The public is advised to limit outdoor activities, drink plenty of water, avoid alcohol and caffeine, wear protective clothing, and schedule strenuous tasks during cooler times of the day.
