LPA near Agusan del Norte triggers rain showers in Visayas, Mindanao

A low-pressure area (LPA) near Agusan del Norte is expected to dissipate but still trigger rain showers in parts of Visayas and Mindanao on Tuesday, according to PAGASA.

As of 3:00 a.m., the LPA was last spotted 145 kilometers west-northwest of Butuan City with a low chance of developing into a tropical cyclone and is expected to dissipate within the day.

Metro Manila and other parts of the country will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms, while flash floods or landslides may occur due to moderate to heavy rains caused by the LPA.

PAGASA warns that Metro Manila's heat index could reach extreme caution (33°C-41°C) to danger level (42°C-51°C), advising the public to take precautions against heat-related illnesses and limit outdoor activities during peak heat hours.

Scattered rain showers and thunderstorms are expected over Eastern Visayas, Dinagat Islands, Surigao del Norte, and Agusan del Norte due to the LPA, while light to moderate winds and slight to moderate seas will continue across the archipelago.
