Tropical Depression Gener forms east of Aurora

Tropical Depression Gener developed from a low-pressure area east of Aurora early Monday morning, September 16, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

As of 7 a.m., Tropical Depression Gener was located about 315 kilometers east-northeast of Casiguran, Aurora, with maximum winds of 45 kph and gusts up to 55 kph.

Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 has been raised in eleven provinces across the eastern portion of Luzon due to Tropical Depression Gener, including parts of Cagayan, Isabela, Quirino, Nueva Vizcaya, Apayao, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Ifugao, Aurora, and northern Quezon.

Gener is expected to make landfall in either Isabela or Aurora within 24 hours before exiting the Philippine area of responsibility by Wednesday, September 18.

Gale warnings are also in effect over the western and southern seaboards of Southern Luzon, as well as the seaboards of Visayas and Mindanao, with sea travel considered risky for small vessels.
