Tropical Storm Helen exits PH, habagat brings rains in Palawan, Occidental Mindoro, Zambales

Tropical Storm Helen left the Philippine Area of Responsibility at 5 pm on Wednesday, September 18, and is now moving towards Japan.

The Southwest Monsoon ('habagat'), enhanced by Tropical Depression Gener and Helen, continues to bring heavy rains in Palawan, Occidental Mindoro, Zambales, Bataan, Western Visayas, Central Luzon, and MIMAROPA; while Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will experience cloudy skies with scattered rain showers.

Forecast rainfall remains higher in elevated or mountainous areas, increasing the risk of flooding and landslides, especially in highly susceptible regions identified in hazard maps.

PAGASA advised the public and disaster risk reduction and management offices to take necessary measures to protect life and property due to heavy rainfall and strong winds.

Cloudy skies with scattered rain showers are expected across many parts of the country, while flash floods or landslides may occur due to these weather conditions.
