Paeng causes over P1B damage to agriculture

Severe Tropical Storm Paeng caused over P1 billion in damage to agriculture across several regions in the Philippines.

In Batangas alone, the storm destroyed more than P140 million worth of crops and fisheries as of November 2.

Western Visayas reported PHP363 million in crop damages primarily affecting rice production.

Bicol region suffered P701 million in agricultural damage, with Camarines Sur accounting for most of it due to two landfalls.

The DA estimated initial losses at P49.54 million as of October 30, with rice being the hardest-hit sector.
