Paeng affects 2.1M individuals; DSWD distributes aid

As of Monday, October 31, 2022, Severe Tropical Storm Paeng has affected around 2.1 million individuals or 560,000 families across the Philippines.

Of those affected, 75,168 families are in evacuation centers while DSWD has distributed P48.1 million worth of food and non-food items so far.

DSWD Undersecretary Edu Punay stated that additional aid will be provided to families who lost loved ones or homes due to Paeng under the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Program, with at least 3,064 houses damaged.

On Saturday, DSWD Secretary Erwin Tulfo ensured regional directors were prepared for disaster response operations as per President Marcos Jr.'s instructions and shared updates on relief efforts including available funds and stockpiles of supplies.

Starting Sunday, DSWD began distributing family food packs in the Bangsamoro Region and Calabarzon areas with plans to continue deliveries in Quezon, Rizal, and Batangas.
