NU leads women's and men's tennis finals after day 1

National University secured a 3-1 victory over the University of Santo Tomas in the first game of the UAAP Season 87 women's tennis finals on Wednesday and followed up with a 3-2 triumph in the men's tennis Game 1, putting them one step closer to their championships.

In the women's match, Rovie Baulete and Adeline Abadia won the doubles against Judy Padilla and Debbie Gom-os with a score of 6-2, 6-2, followed by Jasmin Jaran’s singles win over Patricia Lim.

Elsie Abarquez sealed the victory for NU in women's tennis by defeating Mica Emana 6-3, 6-1 in straight sets.

In men's tennis, Angil Balaoing and Christian Padilla clinched the decisive doubles match against Steven Sonsona and Symon Jaculan with a score of 6-1, 6-1 to secure NU’s victory.

Both teams are now just one win away from their respective championships, with Game 2 scheduled for Saturday at the Felicisimo Ampon Tennis Center in Malate, Manila.
