UST ends 3-game slump with back-to-back wins

University of Santo Tomas snapped a three-game losing streak with a thrilling five-set victory over Adamson University and followed it up with a dominant sweep against Ateneo de Manila University in straight sets (25-15, 26-24, 26-24) in the UAAP Season 87 Women's Volleyball Tournament on Saturday, April 5.

Regina Jurado scored crucial points including the match-winning block on Shaina Nitura against Adamson, while Angge Poyos led UST with 16 points and was supported by rookie blocker/wing Marga Altea who contributed 10 points in the sweep of Ateneo.

UST head coach Kungfu Reyes praised his team's resilience, noting their maturity and decision-making during critical moments allowed them to overcome negative vibes and secure a crucial victory against Adamson followed by another win over Ateneo.

With back-to-back wins, UST improved its record to 7-4, securing the solo third spot in the standings. They will pursue a Final Four spot as they face the still-winless University of the East Red Warriors next Saturday.
