NU Bulldogs coach Dante Alinsunurin celebrates UAAP men's volleyball championship

Dante Alinsunurin, coach of National University (NU) Bulldogs, expressed emotional joy at winning the UAAP Season 87 men's volleyball championship.

Reflecting on his journey, Alinsunurin noted that NU has become an undisputed force in collegiate volleyball but emphasized a broader goal to elevate Philippine men's volleyball as a whole.

During a press conference, he thanked everyone for their hard work and highlighted the challenges faced during the program’s early years when recruiting players was difficult due to NU being relatively unknown.

Alinsunurin expressed hope that future coaches will continue to build on the legacy of success beyond just NU, aiming to make a significant impact on Philippine volleyball programs more broadly.

Despite the pandemic, Alinsunurin maintained a successful program, securing five consecutive titles over eight years due to a three-year hiatus in men's volleyball competitions.

Alinsunurin’s recruitment and coaching systems have made NU the gold standard in collegiate men's volleyball, but he remains humble about the path that led them to their current success.
