NU secures women's basketball finals ticket

National University secured an outright ticket to the UAAP Season 87 women's basketball finals after a dominant 86-58 victory over Far Eastern University on Saturday at Filoil EcoOil Centre.

The Lady Bulldogs completed their season sweep with a perfect 14-game elimination round record, emphasizing their squad depth and ball movement that led to 32 assists out of its 33 made field goals; Cielo Pagdulagan led NU with 11 points while Aloha Betanio and Angel Surada added eight each.

Defending champion University of Santo Tomas will have a twice-to-beat edge against Adamson University in the stepladder semifinals after defeating De La Salle University, 70-52, on Saturday.

Adamson snapped Ateneo's four-game streak with a 58-52 win to advance to face UST; Ana Mae Tacatac led the Growling Tigresses with 14 points in the first half.

Far Eastern University concluded their season with a 3-11 record, marking the same result as last year's campaign.
