NU defeats Ateneo 7-2, extends rival's losing streak to six games

National University (NU) defeated Ateneo de Manila University 7-2 in the UAAP Season 87 baseball tournament on Sunday, improving their record to 8-1.

Pitcher Jherick Timban delivered a complete-game performance with 10 strikeouts, while NU's second-string players played a crucial role in securing the victory.

The win extended Ateneo's losing streak to six games, dropping their record to 1-8 and further distancing them from playoff contention.

NU will aim to secure the No. 1 seed when they face De La Salle University (6-2) on April 23 after the Holy Week break.

In another game, University of the Philippines (UP) narrowly beat Adamson University 13-12, maintaining their hopes for a semifinal spot with a 4-5 record.
