No Omicron detected in latest genome sequencing

The Philippine Genome Center reported on Sunday that all 574 samples sequenced from travelers returning from Omicron-affected countries were Delta variant cases, except for one sample with B.1.1.203.

On Thursday, the Department of Health (DoH) stated that no Omicron variant was detected in their latest genome sequencing run involving 48 samples, including 12 returning overseas Filipinos and 36 local cases.

Of these 48 samples, 79% were Delta variant cases, bringing the country's total to 7,886. The remaining samples had non-VOC lineages or no detectable lineage.

The two travelers with a history of travel to Turkey had Delta variants, while others traveled from Jordan, Mexico, Netherlands, Panama, and Peru.
