NHA distributes P487M cash aid to Odette-hit families

The National Housing Authority (NHA) has distributed PHP487 million in cash assistance to 97,500 families affected by Typhoon Odette.

Typhoon Odette damaged over 597,000 homes across various regions including Mimaropa, Western Visayas, Central Visayas, Eastern Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, Davao, Soccsksargen, Caraga, and the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.

In addition to cash aid, around 19,000 shelter-grade tarpaulin sheets have been provided with assistance from the US Agency for International Development, International Organization for Migration, and Philippine Coast Guard.

The NHA also turned over PHP27.5 million to the provincial government of Negros Oriental for initial assistance to about 5,500 beneficiaries.

In Eastern Visayas, PHP57.5 million was given to the provincial governments of Southern Leyte and Leyte to help victims rebuild their homes.
