Typhoon Odette death toll climbs to 407

As of Monday, January 3, the death toll from Typhoon Odette has risen to 407 with only 75 confirmed deaths.

The typhoon caused significant damage across various regions including PHP7.68 billion in agriculture and PHP16.9 billion in infrastructure.

A total of 1,147 people were injured, 332 are missing (with nine validated), and over half a million houses were damaged or destroyed.

By Saturday, January 1, the NDRRMC reported that 535,373 houses were affected by Odette with 170,350 considered 'totally damaged'.

As of New Year's Eve, December 31, confirmed deaths reached 75 while 330 deaths are still undergoing validation.

The typhoon impacted over a million families across numerous regions, displacing at least 506,626 people and affecting around 6,000 barangays.
