NegOcc: 3rd mayor tests positive for COVID-19

Silay City Mayor Mark Golez tested positive for COVID-19 on Wednesday, becoming the third city mayor in Negros Occidental to contract the virus this week.

Golez is exhibiting mild symptoms and is fully vaccinated; strict protocols are being followed for isolation and contact tracing.

Talisay City Mayor Neil Lizares III also tested positive earlier in the week, leading to a city hall lockdown on Friday for decontamination.

Kabankalan City Mayor Pedro Zayco had previously tested positive after attending a gathering of politicians under the Love Negros coalition; he is currently hospitalized but stable.
