La Union capital, 4 towns under MECQ Oct 1-14

San Fernando City, La Union and four nearby towns will be under modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) from October 1 to 14 due to rising COVID-19 cases, including Delta variant infections.

The city's health officer noted an increase in frontliners testing positive for the virus and hospitals operating at full capacity.

Initially planned as ECQ based on a September 27 report, the measures were later adjusted to MECQ according to Governor Francisco Emmanuel Ortega III’s executive order issued on Wednesday night.
