National University wins fifth straight men's volleyball title

National University secured its fifth consecutive championship in the UAAP men's volleyball tournament on Saturday with a 25-16, 28-26, 25-23 victory over Far Eastern University.

Leo Ordiales led National University with 13 points, while Rwenzmel Taguibolos contributed 10 points and Michaelo Buddin had nine attacks and 11 receptions; Jonas Hernandez, a 5-foot-3 service specialist, played a crucial role in the final series despite limited action.

Despite losing key players Owa Retamar and Nico Almendras due to injuries, the Bulldogs overcame significant challenges during the season to clinch their seventh overall title.

Head coach Dante Alinsunurin expressed gratitude for his team's resilience and dedication, especially after absorbing their first loss in the Finals since UAAP Season 79.

National University’s victory adds to its impressive tally of eight titles this season across various sports.
