PH's first UK variant patient tests negative

The first case of the UK variant in the Philippines has tested negative for coronavirus based on his latest swab test.

Doctors continue to monitor the condition of the patient and will conduct a final medical assessment before allowing him to reunite with his family.

Meanwhile, the mother and girlfriend of the index case have tested positive for COVID-19 but negative for the UK variant.

The DOH is sending their samples to the Philippine Genome Center to determine if they are infected with the more transmissible UK variant.
