Duterte rejects easing age-based restrictions

President Duterte rejected the Inter-Agency Task Force's recommendation to allow children aged 10 to 14 to go out in areas under modified general community quarantine.

Malacañang stated that the IATF is a recommendatory body and the President ultimately decides on such matters, emphasizing that safety of children amid the pandemic is Duterte’s top priority.

The DOH welcomed Duterte's decision as it will give time for at least two cycles of genome sequencing to determine the extent of transmission of the UK variant.
