Maring exits PH but TCWS remain for N. Luzon

Severe Tropical Storm Maring (Kompasu) exited the Philippine area of responsibility on Tuesday morning but tropical cyclone wind signals remained in effect for several northern Luzon provinces.

As of 10 p.m. Tuesday, Maring was located 580 kilometers west of Calayan, Cagayan with maximum sustained winds of 100 kph and gusts up to 125 kph, moving westward at 20 kph.

PAGASA forecasts Maring will make landfall near Hainan Island in China by Wednesday evening, gradually intensifying to peak intensity of 110 kph before weakening upon landfall.

On Monday night, Maring made landfall on Fuga island in Cagayan with maximum sustained winds of 95 kph and gusts up to 145 kph.
