Maring's agricultural losses hit P2.17B

Severe Tropical Storm Maring caused agricultural damage of over P2.17 billion in the Philippines as of Tuesday, affecting 78,634 farmers and fishers across 86,481 hectares in various regions.

Losses include rice (P1.5 billion), corn, high-value crops, livestock, fisheries, irrigation, and agricultural facilities.

The affected areas are Cordillera Administrative Region, Ilocos Region, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, MIMAROPA, Bicol Region, Western Visayas, and SOCCSKSARGEN.

Pangasinan alone suffered PHP263.7 million in damage with over 21,000 hectares of farmland submerged.

The DA will provide P1.5 billion worth of interventions and assistance to affected farmers and fishers.
