Transport Sec Dizon sets agenda to fast-track key transit projects, expand ports

Newly-appointed Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon highlighted President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s directive to expedite public transportation projects during a press briefing at Malacañang Palace on Friday.

Dizon emphasized the need to prioritize key infrastructure projects such as the Metro Manila Subway project and North-South Commuter Rail, which he described as 'game-changers' for commuters.

The Secretary stressed the importance of addressing perennial transportation issues with comprehensive plans rather than temporary fixes, aiming for short-, medium-, and long-term solutions based on data and urbanization trends.

Marcos also instructed Dizon to focus on expanding agricultural ports to reduce food transport costs and alleviate high prices, recognizing connectivity as a key factor in maintaining low food prices.

Dizon aims to leave a legacy of improved physical connectivity by implementing these projects through public-private partnerships, prioritizing the resolution of right-of-way issues and increasing port capacity for cruise ships to boost tourism.
