DOTr sec Dizon pushes private sector partnerships for transport projects

Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Vince Dizon emphasized the need for government-private sector partnerships to enhance transportation efficiency during his first statement on Monday, Feb. 24.

Dizon stated that privatization is key to fast-tracking infrastructure projects and praised former DOTr secretary Jaime Bautista's efforts in initiating this process, particularly with the NAIA privatization.

Under Bautista's leadership, regional airports like Laguindingan Airport and Bohol-Panglao International Airport were also privatized, and the groundbreaking of the Taguig City Integrated Terminal Exchange (TCITX) was initiated.

Dizon affirmed continuity in completing ongoing projects and highlighted plans to privatize road and railway infrastructure, including the EDSA Busway and MRT-3 rail line, with feasibility studies underway.

The new DOTr chief vowed to accelerate these initiatives without disrupting existing programs, aiming to improve the lives of Filipino commuters through efficient transport services.
