Mapua edges Emilio Aguinaldo, Lyceum upsets San Beda in NCAA

Muralla Street in Manila celebrated on Tuesday as Mapua and Lyceum universities secured thrilling victories in the NCAA Season 100 men's basketball tournament.

Mapua, ranked second, narrowly defeated Emilio Aguinaldo College with a last-second shot by Cyrus Cuenco to win 82-79 and improve their record to 8-3.

Lyceum Pirates pulled off an upset victory over defending champion San Beda in a closely contested game, winning 64-62 thanks to a crucial three-pointer from Greg Cunanan with just 8.6 seconds left.

Clint Escamis led Mapua's win with a team-high 23 points and six rebounds, while Lyceum's Gyle Montano contributed 12 points in their victory.

San Beda's John Barba struggled with only four points on poor shooting, contributing to his team's loss despite Bismarck Lina scoring 12 points.
