Arellano beats Lyceum 91-86 in NCAA men's basketball

Arellano University secured a 91-86 victory over Lyceum of the Philippines in the NCAA Season 100 men's basketball tournament on Saturday.

JL Capulong led Arellano with a career-high 30 points and 16 rebounds, helping the team secure their fourth win in 12 games.

Despite trailing early, Arellano rallied to seal the victory in the final minute with key contributions from guards Maverick Vinoya and Ernest Geronimo, who scored crucial baskets late in the game.

Lyceum's John Barba led his team with 18 points while teammate JM Bravo added 17 but was sidelined after a collision late in the game.

Bravo sustained an injury when he lost his footing during a rebound, causing concern among spectators before he regained consciousness at the dugout and was later rushed to the hospital.

Capulong's performance surprised even himself as his coach Chico Manabat had always believed in his ability to excel in the paint with his size and strength.

The 23-year-old center hopes to replicate his success when Arellano faces Perpetual Help Altas on Tuesday.
