MMDA, MTPB announce road closures near Quirino Grandstand for Iglesia Ni Cristo rally

The MMDA and Manila Traffic and Parking Bureau announced that several roads near Quirino Grandstand will be closed on Monday, January 13, for the Iglesia Ni Cristo's National Rally for Peace.

Road closures include Katigbak Drive, South Drive, north- and southbound lanes of Roxas Boulevard from Katigbak Drive to UN Avenue, north- and southbound lanes of Bonifacio Drive from Katigbak Drive to Anda Circle, P. Burgos Avenue from Victoria Street to Roxas Boulevard, Maria Orosa Street from P. Burgos Avenue to UN Avenue, Finance Road from P. Burgos Avenue to Taft Avenue, Gen. Luna Roundtable, and Kalaw Avenue from Taft Avenue to Roxas Boulevard.

Motorists are advised to use alternate routes like U.N. Avenue and Quirino Avenue during the closures; around 15,000 vehicles are expected to converge in different parts of Manila as part of the event.

The MMDA expects up to half a million attendees at the rally and will deploy around 1,300 personnel for traffic management, while PNP will deploy over 2,000 officers to ensure security.

Street parking is allowed but only one lane can be used; violators may face tickets or towing to ensure clear roads for emergencies.

Malacañang has suspended government work and classes in Manila and Pasay while private offices are advised to do the same at their discretion.
