Manila roads closed for Jesus Nazareno procession

Starting Wednesday night, January 8th, several roads in Manila will be closed for the Feast of Jesus Nazareno's Traslacion procession on Thursday.

The Manila Police District announced road closures along the route from Quirino Grandstand to Quiapo’s Minor Basilica and National Shrine of Jesus Nazareno, with millions expected to attend; however, some devotees pushed past police guarding Ayala Bridge.

Closed roads include Bonifacio Drive, Roxas Boulevard, Taft Avenue, Ayala Avenue, among others, from 9 p.m. on January 8 until January 9.

Southbound vehicles should use Capulong Street or San Fernando Street; northbound vehicles should use United Nations Avenue and Mabini Bridge.

Video footage showed devotees singing the Lord's Prayer and arguing with police before pushing their way through to reach Ayala Bridge.
