Manila prepares hero's welcome for Olympic gold medalist Yulo

The City of Manila is preparing a hero's welcome parade for Carlos Edriel Yulo, who won two gold medals in men's artistic gymnastics at the Paris Olympics on August 3 and 4.

Mayor Honey Lacuna announced plans for the parade to start on Leveriza Street in Malate and end at Manila City Hall, passing through areas near Malacañang and the University Belt.

Yulo, an Outstanding Manilan awardee from Malate, will receive financial rewards including PHP10 million from the Philippine Sports Commission and PHP3 million from the House of Representatives, as well as a P2 million cash reward from the City of Manila.

House Speaker Ferdinand Romualdez has committed to providing Yulo with a fully furnished three-bedroom condominium unit worth P24 million in McKinley Hill from Megaworld, along with other incentives from private companies.

Senator Nancy Binay praised Yulo as an inspiration for Filipino youth and urged students to welcome him during the parade.

Mayor Lacuna is coordinating with DepEd and private schools to ensure that Manila's youth can witness the parade up close.
