Yulo secures spots in 3 medal rounds of Paris Olympics

Filipino gymnast Carlos Yulo secured spots in three medal rounds of the 2024 Paris Olympics after strong performances in men's artistic gymnastics qualification on Saturday, July 27.

Yulo advanced to the all-around finals with a total score of 83.631, placing ninth overall, and also qualified for vault and floor exercise finals.

Currently ranked second in floor exercise with a score of 14.766 points and sixth in vault with an average score of 14.683 points, Yulo remains competitive but narrowly missed advancing to the parallel bars finals where he finished 19th with 14.533 points.

Yulo will compete in the all-around finals on Wednesday among 24 participants at the Bercy Arena, facing strong competition from Chinese and Japanese gymnasts like Daiki Hashimoto and Shinnosuke Oka, who are top contenders for the title.

Despite being ninth in the qualifying round, Yulo's performance is closely watched as he aims to become the first Filipino athlete to win multiple medals at a single Olympic edition.
