Malacañang urges Sara Duterte-Carpio to explain PHP112.5M in dubious DepEd aliases

On Monday, Malacañang urged Vice President Sara Duterte-Carpio to explain additional names found as recipients of confidential funds from the Office of the Vice President (OVP) and the Department of Education (DepEd) during her terms.

Palace Press Officer Claire Castro emphasized the need for Duterte to clarify revelations involving dubious aliases like 'Amoy Liu,' 'Fernan Amuy,' and 'Joug de Asim' who received PHP112.5 million in DepEd confidential funds, part of a larger set of anomalous names worth P612.5 million.

House Deputy Majority Leader Francisco Paolo Ortega V revealed that these dubious aliases were flagged by the Commission on Audit based on documents submitted by OVP and DepEd, with no birth, marriage, or death records found for them in Philippine Statistics Authority data.

Ortega noted that this new set of names includes a series of odor-themed aliases collectively referred to as 'Team Amoy Asim,' adding to previous findings involving fake receipts issued by Duterte's office.

Lawmakers previously questioned bizarre names on the list of confidential funds recipients, including those attributed to chip products and cellphones, amid ongoing investigations leading up to Duterte's impeachment trial at the Senate.
