LPA, ITCZ to bring scattered rains over PH

A low pressure area (LPA) and the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) will bring scattered rains over parts of the Philippines.

The LPA was last spotted 345 kilometers east of Virac, Catanduanes and is expected to cause cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms in Bicol, Samar Provinces, and Palawan.

PAGASA also noted that isolated light rains will prevail over Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon due to the northeast monsoon, while partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms are expected in Mindanao and Visayas.

Weather forecaster Samuel Duran said there is a slim chance for the LPA to develop into a tropical cyclone within 24 hours but PAGASA will continue monitoring it.
