De La Salle, UST win women's volleyball matches

De La Salle University and the University of Santo Tomas secured their first wins in the UAAP Season 87 women's volleyball tournament on Saturday.

Leading players Angel Canino and Alleiah Malaluan contributed significantly, with Malaluan scoring a team-high 16 points as De La Salle defeated Adamson University in a closely contested match with scores of 25-21, 25-23, 25-20.

Head coach Ramil de Jesus praised his team's regained confidence and performance after they bounced back from a previous loss to defending champion National University.

Despite the challenging second set where Adamson pushed De La Salle to 24-23, the latter pulled ahead with a strong start in the third set and maintained their lead to secure victory.

In another game, University of Santo Tomas defeated University of the East in a four-set battle with scores of 28-26, 22-25, 25-23, 25-15.
