New NU Lady Bulldogs coach Meneses confident after title defense win

New coach Sherwin Meneses expresses confidence in the National University Lady Bulldogs' ability to defend their title as they secured a convincing 25-23, 25-21, 25-18 victory over De La Salle on Sunday, February 16, at the Mall of Asia Arena.

Meneses, who previously led Adamson and currently coaches Creamline in the Premier Volleyball League, praised his players for their response during the match, noting that veteran players like Bella Belen demonstrated strong teamwork and leadership.

The coach highlighted the importance of focusing on one point at a time to defend the team's championship title, emphasizing the need to maintain composure against any opponent regardless of ranking.

De La Salle’s legendary coach Ramil De Jesus congratulated Meneses on his return to UAAP coaching after nine years and praised NU for their solid play and teamwork, particularly noting Bella Belen's leadership skills.

Despite acknowledging that the current level of volleyball is different from when he last coached in college, Meneses remains optimistic about his team's readiness for the challenge as they begin their season opener with a strong win.
