UE upsets De La Salle in UAAP men's basketball

University of the East (UE) stunned defending champion De La Salle University in a thrilling UAAP Season 87 men's basketball match with a score of 75-71 on Sunday at the Mall of Asia Arena.

Following their loss to UE, De La Salle narrowly avoided another upset by defeating winless FEU with a score of 68-62 on Wednesday at the Araneta Coliseum, with Kevin Quiambao and Mike Phillips each recording double-doubles.

Kevin Quiambao contributed significantly in both games, scoring 17 points and missing crucial free throws against UE, and nearly achieving a triple-double with 12 points, 11 rebounds, and 8 assists against FEU.

Mike Phillips added 13 points, 14 rebounds, and two blocks to the effort, helping La Salle improve their record to 4-1.

Coach Topex Robinson credited UE's victory for grounding his team and reminded them of the challenges ahead, emphasizing that this season would be difficult despite the win over FEU.
