Japanese ROV locates sunken MT Princess Empress with leaks

A Japanese remotely operated vehicle (ROV) has located the sunken MT Princess Empress off Oriental Mindoro and found at least 23 holes where oil is leaking.

The ROV, contracted from Japan by RDC Reield Marine Services, showed heavy damage to the front of the submerged ship near Naujan town.

However, the PCG chief said the Japanese ROV cannot plug or siphon oil from the tanker and another vessel may need to be hired for this task.
