Hontiveros: PCG, MARINA should face legal consequences for Mindoro oil spill

Senator Risa Hontiveros called for accountability of PCG and MARINA officials who allowed the MT Princess Empress, described as a 'scrap ship,' to depart despite not meeting safety requirements.

Hontiveros stated that PCG officials should face legal consequences for allowing the ship to sail from Bataan on February 27, leading to the Mindoro oil spill.

She also noted that this is one of eight instances where the scrap ship was reportedly allowed to sail without proper authorization.
