DOJ probes PCG, MARINA over MT Princess Empress sailing without CPC

The Department of Justice is investigating whether officials at the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) and Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) allowed the MT Princess Empress to sail without a valid Certificate of Public Convenience (CPC).

Despite PCG initially showing a CPC for the vessel, MARINA later clarified that the specific tanker had not been added to the company's CPC.

The investigation stems from questions about the authenticity and validity of documents presented by the MT Princess Empress before it sank on February 28.
