Heavy rain triggers flash floods in Negros Occidental

Heavy rain triggered flash floods in various areas of Negros Occidental on Saturday, January 9.

This flooding displaced thousands of residents, a week after similar floods ravaged the cities of Talisay, Silay, Victorias, and EB Magalona during New Year’s.

Local governments in Talisay, Victorias, and Silay had already declared a state of calamity following the earlier flooding.

Around midnight on Saturday, local government units and the Philippine Coast Guard mounted rescue and evacuation operations as waters surged again.

The Philippine Coast Guard-Negros Occidental commander deployed 3 teams comprising 15 personnel to Talisay City for search and rescue operations.
