Flash floods hit northern Negros, one dead, 15K families affected

Flash floods caused by heavy rains affected at least four localities in northern Negros Occidental on New Year's Day, resulting in one fatality and impacting nearly 15,000 families.

In Victorias City, around 8,976 families were affected with some houses damaged or destroyed.

Silay City saw flooding in 13 villages affecting 2,114 individuals from 706 families, while Talisay City reported impacts on about 3,990 families and damage to several houses and infrastructure.

E.B. Magalona town also faced floods impacting over 1,200 families.

The Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office provided food assistance to affected families in Talisay and E.B. Magalona.
